A year has passed since the editors of Bushwick Daily had this wacky idea to publish our own guide to Bushwick Open Studios. With our (extremely) limited budget, full-time work schedules, and only a couple weeks to pull it off, we successfully composed a concise, well-curated, and spirited guide that highlighted the best food, music, parties, and of course, artists studios, to help novices and veterans alike tackle the rigorous three-day festival. This year, back by popular demand, we bring you the 2014 Edition of Bushwick Daily’s “NO BS BOS!”
It is an understatement to say that Bushwick has changed dramatically in the past year. A skyline proliferated with artists’ lofts and industrial parks has given way to newly developed condos and artisan shops. The neighborhood might be evolving, but the spirit and the vibrancy that brought us out here (and made us want to stay), still exists. I credit the art in this neighborhood for both the neighborhood’s changes and the resilience to maintain its unique identity. The artistic spirit continues to thrive in the neighborhood regardless of who moves in or out.
This year, the Bushwick Daily No BS BOS Guide is designed to push you out of your comfort zone and explore deep into the neighborhood to discover what we see as some of the most innovative, sexiest, funni- est, and most memorable artists and collaborative exhibitions. Turn to the guide’s BOS After Dark, for a roundup of the greatest shows, concerts, performances, and parties to hit after you’ve had your fill of art.
From all of us at Bushwick Daily, we hope you enjoy Bushwick Open Studios!
